My profession would often have me travelling and most of the time it would be to big cities. It was a bit hard at first but now I am used to the culture and norms that all city folk subconsciously follow. I have even started getting accustomed to the busy traffic and the long queues, but don’t get me wrong; I want to take the next flight back to my home-town whenever there is a reasonable chance to do so. But every time I am on the flight back, the haunting thought in my head is that of the polluted air back home. The question that most obviously must have popped up in your head would be ‘where I live’? And it’s none other than the capital city of GODs own country, our very own Thiruvananthapuram.
Nobody for a second think that I am exaggerating. The AQI (Air Quality Index) of Thiruvananthapuram is 81 and this means that the quality of air quality we breathe here is much less than other metropolitan cities including Chennai, Bangalore and Pune who have a lesser AQI number.
My life was turned for the better when I was introduced to a marvellous invention called ‘portable oxygen concentrator’. These portable oxygen purifiers are handy and extremely useful, not to mention lifesaving in the long run. So the next time you see a sign that says ‘oxygen concentrators for rent’ in Trivandrum, do step in; it might just save your life.
